On January 30, a bibliographic review of book exhibitions dedicated to the literary and creative heritage of outstanding historical figures of the Turkic world and the Kazakh people took place in the reading room of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Service.

The review was made by young specialists of the service Bilal Yertai, Daria Nurmukhambetova and Aigerim Muratkyzy.

The purpose of the review is to familiarize library staff with valuable manuscripts, publications and written sources stored in the fund of rare books and manuscripts of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The exhibition «Turki halyktaryn zhazba murasy» presents the works of the poet, founder of Sufi poetry, thinker, religious figure Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, famous historian, literary critic Mohamed Haidar Dulati and the great scientist Mahmoud Kashgari.

Librarian D. Nurmukhambetova told about the unique manuscripts of the founder of Sufi poetry, thinker Khoja Ahmed Yasawi: «Diwani hikmet», «Risala: Miratul-kulub», the pedigree of «Nasabnam» and «Hikmet» of his pupil Suleyman Bakyrgani, which are included from Kazakhstan in the International Register of the UNESCO program «Memory of the World». This manuscript by S. Bakirgani was republished in 2018 in a modern transcription. She also presented the historical work of Muhammad Haidar Dulati «Tarihi-i-Rashidi».

The book exhibition «Gasyr aueni izimen» dedicated to the work of Alexander Zataevich was also presented to the attention of the participants. The review and presentation were conducted by librarian A. Muratkyzy, presenting the work and life of researcher A.Zataevich, in which she noted his contribution to the popularization of Kazakh folk musical art and presented his works: «1000 songs of the Kyrgyz people», «500 Kazakh songs and kuys», «250 Kyrgyz instrumental pieces and melodie», in which information about the life and the works of such prominent folk composers as Abai Kunanbayev, Kurmangazy Sagyrbayev, Birzhan Kozhagulov, Jayau Musa Baizhanov, Tattimbet, Baluan Sholak, Dina Nurpeisova and others.

At the end of the library review, Nurzhuma Yelesbai, a researcher at the M.O.Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, performed the song «Balkadisha».

With the reading of the poem «Kokshe-tau», a young specialist Yertai Bilal began his speech, who spoke in detail about the poet's works and materials about him presented at the book exhibition «Dala dauylpazy – Saken Seifullin», dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the outstanding statesman and public figure poet, writer, founder of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan Saken Seifullin.

The exhibition exhibits the works of S. Seifullin in Arabic and Latin graphics, written in the first quarter of the XX century; collections of poems «Asau tulpar» and «Dombra; the book «Turmys tolkyninda»; the poem «Express»; the story «Zher kazgandar»; the story-poem «Uyym zhane enbek, shart-zhalshylar korgany»; the short story-poem «Kokshe-tau»; the saga «Al-Batros», etc.

Yertay Bilal paid special attention to the original of the novel "Tar Zhol taigak keshu", published in 5000 copies in Latin script, and in 1935 in 8000 copies in Cyrillic, as well as in 50,000 copies in 1977, which describes the historical events of the Kazakh steppe of 1916-1919. He also shared interesting facts from the poet's life described in the biographical books «Saken and Gulbakhram» and «Saken Seifullin» by academician Tursynbek Kakishuly.

As part of the event, librarians of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Service conducted a quiz game for participants to review books presented at exhibitions. The participants answered the questions with great pleasure and received prizes.

At the end of the educational event, the director of the library Bakytzhamal Ospanova thanked the young specialists for informative and interesting reviews of book exhibitions from the fund of rare books and manuscripts of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
