In order to promote the works of the best Kazakhstani and foreign writers, increase interest in literature, identify and encourage the best readers, on November 9 of this year, the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a competition "Kitap oky. Shabyttan" among teachers and librarians of technical and professional educational institutions of the Almaty region.

The organizers of the competition were: the Department of Education of the Almaty region, the Regional Methodological Center and the Kaskelen College of Culture.  The participants of the “Parasatty Okyrman” project at the first stage of the competition provided their essays, videos, trailers, photographs and promotional videos on the topic "The work that changed my life", created on the basis of 30 books selected for this purpose by the organizers of the competition.

37 teachers of secondary specialized educational institutions of the Almaty region prepared their works for the competition. Among the participants of the competition: the Humanitarian and Economic College of the city of Esik, Talgar College of Management and Agribusiness, the Multidisciplinary College of Vocational Training of the village of Shamalgan, Kaskelen Vocational College named after S. Zhandosov, Uzynagash Vocational College named after Zhambyl, Vocational College of Saryzhaz village, Multidisciplinary College of Konaev city, Vocational College of Zarechny village, Ayazhan College of Kaskelen city, Polytechnic College of Chilik village, Professional College of Karakemer village, Medical College of Uzynagash village, Vocational College of Kolsai village, Polytechnic College of Shonzhi village, Almaty Regional College of Innovative Technologies in the field of service and nutrition.

10 selected contestants took part in the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the II stage of the “Creative Skills” competition, who presented their video materials, text accompaniment and answered questions.

The works of the participants were evaluated by the Jury members from among the specialists of the National Library and the Karasai regional Library, writers and editors of the TV studio "Turki Alemi", employees of educational institutions.

According to the results of the competition, the winners were awarded diplomas of I, II, III degrees. Participants who did not pass the II stage were awarded certificates of participants. The best works were awarded with special nominations and prizes from the organizers and books from the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
