A book exhibition of a unique series of artistic and biographical books «The Life of remarkable people» has been organized in the Book Corner of Russia of the Hall of World Literature.

«The Life of Remarkable People» is a series of biographical and artistic—biographical books published since 1890 by the publisher and educator Florenty Fedorovich Pavlenkov, renewed on the initiative of Maxim Gorky and published by the «Magazine and Newspaper Association» from 1933 to 1938. Since 1938, it has been published in the publishing house «Young Guard». In 1962, a cover design appeared with a portrait of the hero of the book and an image of a torch. The golden torch a symbol of enlightenment, became the emblem of the «The Life of remarkable people» series in 1958. In the 1960s and 1980s, was published the historical and bibliographic almanac of the «Prometheus» «The Life of remarkable people» series (16 issues were published). The remarkable series formulated three main principles of selection: scientific reliability, high literary level and entertaining. Additional series of «The Life of remarkable people» were also published: Biography continues», «Small series», «Modern classics», «Great people of Russia».

Over the years, the thematic scope of the «The Life of remarkable people» series has expanded: biographies of emigrant writers, foreign film actors and many other representatives of science and culture have begun to be published. The flow of translated literature has significantly increased. For many years, the books of the «The Life of remarkable people» series have caused a great stir in the reading and academic environment. Huge circulations, reaching up to a million copies. For any author, writing a book for «The Life of remarkable people» was a recognition of his high professional level. Many of the books in this series are still receiving positive reviews from professional critics.

At the book exhibition of the «The Life of remarkable people» series, you can find a number of books about the life and work of many Kazakhstani activities. «Walikhanov» (1983) – a book by the author Strelkova I.I. tells about the life of the great Kazakh orientalist, historian, ethnographer, folklorist, translator, journalist, traveler Shogan Walikhanov (1835-1865). «Envoy Nazir Tyuryakulov» (2004), author Mansurov T.A. - about a statesman, diplomat, plenipotentiary representative of the USSR in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Nazir Tyuryakulovich Tyuryakulov (1892-1937). «Kenesary» (2004), author Walikhanov E.Zh. introduces readers to the outstanding statesman, military figure, Khan of the Kazakh Khanate, commander of the Genghisid clan Torah, grandson of Abylai Khan - Kenesary Kasymov (1802-1847). «Mukhtar Auezov» (2006), author Anastasiev N. A book about the Kazakh writer, playwright and academic of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1897-1961). His four-volume novel "The Way of Abai» was included in the "Library of World Literature".  «The Eunuch of Bouquets» (2007), by Sarseke M.  Yevney Arstanovich Buketov (1925-1983) was a Kazakh scientist in the field of chemistry and metallurgy, writer, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, laureate of the USSR State Prize, member of the USSR Writers' Union. «Abai» (2008), author of the biography Anastasiev N. Abai Kunanbayev (1845-1904) - the founder of Kazakh written literature, poet, philosopher, musician, people's educator, public activity.

The book exhibition from the fund of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan presents books from the series «The Life of remarkable people» from different years of publication.
