In the reading hall of the Arts Department there is a book exhibition "Halkymnyn kharman kyzymyn", devoted to the 100th anniversary of the People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, People's Artist of the USSR, Halyk kaharmany, opera and pop singer, soprano, singer of Kazakh folk songs and songs of the peoples of the world Roza Baglanova.

Roza Tazhibayevna Baglanova was born on January 1, 1922 in Kazalinsk, Kyzylorda region. After graduating from school in 1939, Roza Baglanova entered the Kyzylorda Pedagogical Institute and studied there until 1941. Then she moved to Tashkent and became a student at the Tashkent Textile Institute. In Tashkent she met the opera singer and at the same time director of the Uzbek Philharmonic, Kari Yakupov, who praised Baglanova's singing abilities and helped her get a job with the Uzbek Philharmonic's State Song and Dance Ensemble.

With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Roza Baglanova performed as a member of the front concert brigade. Her front concerts were a huge success; she sang songs and ditties from the repertoire of Lidia Ruslanova, including the song "Oh, Samara-town". The singer finished her war path in Berlin in May 1945.

In 1947, Roza Baglanova returned from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan and until 1949 was a soloist of the Kazakh State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay, and then became a soloist of the Republican Philharmonic named after Jambul, and since 1960, she worked in the association "Kazakhconcert" for 50 years.

Rosa Baglanova's repertoire included works of world opera, Kazakh folk songs, and songs by contemporary composers. She became the first Kazakh singer to be recognized at the all-Union level. In 1955 R.T.Baglanova was given the title of the "People's artist of Kazakhstan", and in 1967 she was awarded the title of the "People's artist of the USSR". In 1996 she was awarded the title "The People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan".

She had many government awards and titles. For her dedication and personal courage during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, she was awarded the medals "For Combat Merit" and "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945", "For Valor in Labor" and others.

She was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of Otan and others. She was awarded the highest title of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Halyk Kaharmany".

Roza Tazhibayevna Baglanova is a national symbol of an entire era: she stood on the same stage with Vertinsky, Ulanova, Plisetskaya, Ilyinsky, Raikin, the great Richter and Shafran. She was personally acquainted with many world statesmen: Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Kim Ir Sung, and Mao Zedong. Twice has visited Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. R. Baglanova successfully performed in the cities of the Soviet Union, toured many countries: North Korea, India, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Syria, Lebanon, Italy, Algeria and others.

Many books were written about Rosa Baglanova, poetry was composed, and documentary films were made. Her name is included in the first issue of the Anglo-American encyclopedia "Who's Who" about women of the world.

On February 7, 2011 R. Baglanova was awarded by the head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev the presidential scholarship of the "Fund to support culture, education and social programs". The great actress passed away on February 8, 2011.

In 2021, the Kazakhconcert was named after Roza Baglanova.

The purpose of the exhibition - to remember the life and creative path of an outstanding singer, to bring up a sense of patriotism, love for the homeland, art and music.

The readers will also be interested in interviews and stories about the life and song writing of the legendary singer, described on the pages of periodicals. Besides, the readers will be able to listen to records with a unique voice of Roza Baglanova on vinyl gramophone records.
