In the reading room of the Arts Department there is a book exhibition "Baigali Dosymzhanov - Kazak Onerininin Sanlagy" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR, opera singer, theater director, musical teacher Baigali Dosymzhanov.

Baigali Dosymzhanov was born on January 1, 1922 in Semipalatinsk city. In 1939 he graduated from Alma-Ata musical school. In 1939-1941 he studied at the Moscow State Conservatory named after Tchaikovsky, and in 1947 he graduated from the Alma-Ata State Conservatory named after Kurmangazy.

Since 1941 - soloist of Kazakh theater of opera and ballet named after Abay. In 1942 worked in the Ensemble of the employees of the internal affairs, then in the musical and choreographic ensemble of frontier guards. Since 1944 in the Kazakh Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet performed the part of Tolegen in the opera "Kyz-Zhibek" E.G.Brusilovsky, Birzhan "Birzhan and Sarah" M.Tulebaev.The first performer of the role of Abay in the opera "Abay" by A.Zhubanov and L.Khamidi.

Dosymzhanov made a significant contribution to the development of national culture and art in Kazakhstan. Dosymzhanov's singing talent was notable for its high culture, bright colors, and deep, sincere performance. Baigaly Dosymzhanov promoted folk songs and songs of folk composers. He toured in German Democratic Republic, Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, Polish People's Republic, Vietnam, Canada and other countries.

Since 1960 was engaged in directing activity. He staged the operas "Ball-Masquerade" by G. Verdi, "Kudasha" by Z.G. Ismailov, "Kyz-Zhibek" by E.Brusilovsky together with K.Baiseitov, "Alpamys" and "Kamar-sulu" by E.Rakhmadiev. In 1975-76 he had reconstructed the operas "Birzhan and Sara" and "Abai". He was the head of the department on training of opera singers at Alma-Ata conservatory. He brought up a great number of young talents. Since 1964 and till the end of his life he was the chief director of Kazakh State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay.

Dosymzhanov Baygali Dosymzhanovich laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree, three times Knight of the Order of Red Banner of Labor, Order "Parasat".

The purpose of the exhibition is to popularize the musical creativity of the outstanding artist and acquaintance with the multifaceted talent of the Kazakh opera singer.

The book exhibition presents books revealing the life, creative and pedagogical way of B. Dosymzhanov: S. Latieva "Khadisha men Baygali", J. Rsaldin "Anshi bakyty", P. Momynov "Kazak operasynyn damu zholdary". Momynov " Kazak operasynyn damu zholdary", M. Tulebaev "Birzhan and Sara", V. Messman "Revival of the song", S.A. Kuzembay, G.Zh. Musagulova, Z.M. Kasymova "Kazak operalary", "Kazak sakhnasynyn sheberleri" and others. Readers can also listen to records performed by Baygali Dosymzhanov on vinyl gramophone records.
