The World Literature Hall organized a book exhibition "Contemporary works of writers of the CIS countries" as part of the proclamation of 2022 as the Year of Folk Arts and Cultural Heritage of the CIS.

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced at the meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on October 15, 2021 that the year 2022 was declared the Year of Folk Arts and Cultural Heritage of the CIS.

Plans for the year include about 100 events aimed at preserving historical ties and strengthening cooperation in culture, tourism and sports.

This decision was made in order to promote folk art and preserve cultural traditions, historical and cultural monuments, ethno-cultural diversity, cultural identity of all peoples and ethnic communities of the CIS.

The exhibition from the collection of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan presents the fiction of the CIS countries and includes sections that represent literature of: the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

Readers will be interested in the book series "Classics of CIS Literature" published by "Art Literature" and "Eurasia Culture" publishers with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member states. The publishing house "Khudozhestvennaya literatura" presents folklore and literary monuments of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Kirgizia, and Moldova. The Moscow publishing house "Culture of Eurasia" presents books with the best examples of literature from ancient times: Armenian literature, fairy tales of Russian writers, Uzbek folk folklore and Tajik literature. Also in the "Literature of Russia" section are two series of books: "Russian Culture", published in Moscow in 2019 by "White City" publishing house, and a series of books "World Classics", published in St. Petersburg in 2019 by "Azbuka" publishing house.

The "Literature of Kazakhstan" section presents books from the "Kazakh Culture in the Modern World" series in six UN languages: English, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, and French.

The collections "Anthology of Modern Kazakh Literature" including the best works of 60 authors translated into UN languages are also presented. The English version of the Anthology of Modern Kazakh Prose and the Anthology of Modern Kazakh Poetry were prepared by Cambridge University Press; the Arabic collections by the National Center for Culture and Education of Egypt; the Spanish edition was published in cooperation with the Cervantes Institute; in Russian by the Publishing House of the Lomonosov Moscow State University; in Chinese by the Publishing House of Nations in Beijing; in French by the Cultural Association of Paris.
