In the reading room of the Arts Department there is a book exhibition "The 85th anniversary of Zeynep Koishybayeva, an opera singer, People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR.

Zeinep Tolembekovna Koishybayeva was born on March 6, 1937 in Alakol district of Almaty region. She graduated from the vocal studio at the Kazakh State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay. Since 1958, Z.Koishybayeva became the soloist of this theater, where she vividly and emotionally played parts in operas "Kyz Zhibek", "Er Targyn", "Zhalbyr" by E.Brusilovsky, "Abai" by A.Zhubanov and L.Khamidi, "Birjan and Sarah" by M.Tulebayev.

Koishybayeva continued her musical education at the Almaty Institute of Arts. Later, from 1967 to 1993 Z. Koishybayeva became a soloist of chamber orchestra of Kazakh radio and television. Talented singer performed Kazakh folk songs and works of modern composers of Kazakhstan: Aset Beiseuov, Eskendir Khasangaliyev, Ilya Zhakanov and others. She made a significant contribution to the promotion of folk songs and the development of pop art. From 1981 until the end of her life she taught at Almaty Variety and Circus College.

Koyshybaeva has toured both in the former Soviet republics and in foreign countries such as Germany, Poland and Afghanistan.

Koishybaeva won the silver prize at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow.

The purpose of the exhibition is to popularize the musical creativity of the famous singer, to bring up a sense of patriotism, love for art and music, to pay tribute to the great artist.

The readers will also be interested in the interviews and stories about the life and songs of the famous singer described on the pages of periodicals. Besides, readers may listen to records with a unique voice of Zeynep Koishybayeva on CDs and vinyl records.
