In the reading hall of the Arts Department there is a book exhibition "Oner bagynyn bulbuly - Kulash", dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR, People's Artist of the USSR, opera singer, dramatic actress Kulyash Baiseitova.

Kulyash Zhasynovna Baiseitova was born on May 2, 1912 in the aul of Aktogay district of Karaganda region. Kulash came to Alma-Ata at the age of twelve and for some time she lived in an orphanage. In 1925-1928 she studied at the Almaty pedagogical college of the Institute of Education and participated in musical amateur activities. In 1930 she joined the studio, established in 1926 in Kyzyl-Orda, which in 1929 moved to the Kazakh Drama Theatre in Almaty. Here Baiseitova plays the roles of Agafya Tikhonovna "Marriage" by N.V.Gogol; Klavdiya "Submarine" by M.Y.Tryger; Pulish "Front" by B.J.Mailin; Zaure "Zaure" by K.Baiseitova and J.T.Shanin; Yelik "Yenlik - Kebek" by M.O.Auezov.

In 1933, Kuliash joined the group of the Musical Theater (the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay), where she performed until the end of her life. She studied singing at the training studio of the theater under K.A. Dianti and V.A. Smyslovskaya.

The musical and stage talent of Baiseitova brightly manifested itself in creating the image of Aiman in the musical comedy "Aiman-Sholpan" on the libretto by M.O.Auezov, music by I.V.Kotsik. The image of Shuga in the musical drama "Shuga" by B.Mailin and I.V.Kotsik showed the increased skill of the singer, the role of Zhibek in "Kyz Zhibek" by E.G.Brusilovsky has allowed the singer to reach the heights of the classic opera art. K. Baiseitova performed the parts of Kadishi, Akzhunus, Aisha, Saira, Zere and Raushan in operas "Zhalbyr", "Yer Targyn", "Golden Grain" and "Forward, Guards! E. G. Brusilovsky; "Beket" by Zilber and "Deep Lake" by Nadirov. The images of Azhar "Abai" by A. Zhubanov and L. A. Khamidi and Sara "Birzhan and Sara" by M.T. Tulebayev are the pinnacle in the work of K. Baiseitova. For the first time on the Kazakh opera stage Baiseitova performed parts from classical operas: Butterfly "Cio-Cio-San" by G. Puccini, Tatiana "Eugene Onegin" by P.I. Tchaikovsky, Tamara "Demon" by A.G.Rubinstein, Maro "Daishi" by Z.P.Paliashvili and Altynshash "Altynshash" by N. Zhiganov.

Baiseitova also performed as a concert singer. She performed folk songs in many languages: Kazakh "Eligai", "Shili ozen", Russian "Kolokolchik", Polish "She was a maiden", Czech "Pastushok", Armenian "Swallow" and other works by Russian, Soviet and Western European composers.

During the Great Patriotic War she went to the front as part of the concert brigade.

In 1944 she acted in the musical film The Concert of the Five Republics.

She is one of the founders of Kazakh opera art and public figure. K.Baiseitova was the organizer and permanent leader of the Kazakh theatrical society, participated in the work of the II World Congress of the Supporters of Peace.

The great actress died on June 6, 1957.

The Kulash Baiseitova Vocalist Contest is conducted annually in Kazakhstan. Streets in Almaty, Astana, Taldykorgan, Balkhash, Temirtau and the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Kazakhstan in Astana, a music school in Almaty, the K.Baiseitova State Prize of the Kazakh SSR was founded in her name. On September 15, 2011 a bronze monument was installed in the public garden near Musical school named after her, Almaty, on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the singer. In 2004 the musical film "Aul Kulyash" directed by M. Musin was released by "Kazakhfilm" studio. In 2012 the Kazakh TV channel "Madeniet" made a film "Legends and Myths of Opera. Kulyash Bayseitova". In 2013, a Kazakh television series about the life of the singer "Kulyash" was released. In 2012 a postage stamp of Kazakhstan dedicated to Kulyash Baiseitova was issued.

The purpose of the exhibition is to give modern readers an opportunity to become thoroughly familiar with the work of Kulyash Bayseitova, whose achievements have become the pinnacle of art and a real school of performance skills.

Maichekin "Korkemoner sheberleri"; "Gakku: K.Baiseitova's repertoire and novels and ariyalar"; K.Baiseitov "Kushtar konil"; "Kazak halkynyn tarikhi tulgalary"; B.Kozhyruly "Rukhani baylyk" and others.
