On November 3 there at National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the work of the Book corner “The window to Korea” and under the aegis of the 30-the anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place “The evening of Korean literature”, organized together with the General consulate of Korea in Almaty city.

The purpose of the activity is the acquaintance with the culture, history of Korea, the widening of knowledge about Korean literature and the strengthening of the humanitarian contacts between our countries. The partners in the organization of the evening were the Kazakh state philharmonic society after Zhambyl and the State republican academic Korean theatre of musical comedy.

“The evening of Korean literature” was opened by director of National library of the RK Ospanova Bakytzhamal Kayirbekovna and the General consul of the Republic of Korea in Almaty city Kim Hyng Soo.

There at the evening spoke: deputy head of the Department of culture of Almaty city Aliyev Daniyar Abzalidenovich; the honored figure of Kazakhstan, winner of the State prize of the RK, chairman of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan Esdaulet Ulykbek; the General consul of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty city FathullayevAbror Dzhakhangirovich.

The students of the faulty of Oriental studies of the Kazakh national university after Al-Farabi, the Kazakh university of international relations and world languages after Abylai khan, the workers of the General consulate of Korea in Almaty city read the verses of the Korean poets: Khan En Oon, An Do Khen, Kim Kvan Sop and other authors.

The activity was accompanied by the performance of the artistes of the Kazakh state philharmonic society after Zhambyl, there were performed the Kazakh folk songs. The artistes of the State republican academic Korean theatre of musical comedy performed the national dances and the folk Korean song.

There was shown the book exhibition “The Korean literature from the fond of National library of the RK”. There at the exhibition were presented: fiction, poetry and books on the history of Korea and also the works of the Korean authors in Kazakhstan translated into the Kazakh and Russian languages and the translations of the books of the Kazakh authors into the Korean language.
