From April 3 to 14, the School for the Conservation and Restoration of Written Documents, at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, trained librarians of the Kazakh National Medical University after S.D. Asfendiyarov M.K. Bibolova and G.N. Zhazylbekov.

In the laboratory of scientific preservation of documents, the librarians of KazNMU after S.D. Asfendiyarov received theoretical knowledge on the safety of library collections, practical knowledge on the biological and physico-chemical stabilization of documents: pH determination, acid neutralization and studied  the state standards for the conservation of documents. The specialists of the restoration and binding sector of the Conservation, Restoration and Binding Services taught their colleagues the practical skills on the basic principles of book restoration and repair: preparing glue, processing the book block, making new binding covers, etc. In the course of practical work, the specialists from KazNMU after S.D. Asfendiyarov were familiarized with the restoration materials and tools, and also independently performed the restoration and reconstruction of the book binding.

Madina Bibolova and Gulmira Zhazylbekova expressed their gratitude to the specialists of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan for their knowledge in the field of documentary heritage preservation.

There for librarians of KazNMU after S.D. Asfendiyarov was given the tour around the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the end of the course, the Certificates of Education were issued.
