In the reading room of the Arts Department there is a book exhibition "100th anniversary of Sholpan Zhandarbekova", Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR, People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, People's Artist of the USSR, teacher Sholpan Zhandarbekova.

Sholpan Isabekovna Dzhandarbekova was born on January 1, 1922 in Milybulak village in Karkaraly region of Karaganda oblast. In 1942 finished theatrical and art school in Alma-Ata. She worked with the director Sh. Aimanov. Since 1941 was an actress in Kazakh Drama Theatre named after M.Auezov. Since 1941 actress of the Kazakh Drama Theatre named after M.Auezov, where she worked till the end of life and played more than 200 roles.

In 1945, Sholpan Dzhandarbekova made her cinematic debut in the film "The Way of Abay". Then the actress starred in the films "Daughter of the Steppes" as Ziyada, "Poem of Love" in the main role of Bayan Sulu, "Crossroads" and others.

Since 1968, she was engaged in pedagogical activity. Since 1978, she taught "Acting" at the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T.Zhurgenov, and thus made a great contribution to the training of future actors.

Kazakh theatrical figure, theater and film actress, teacher Sholpan Dzhandarbekova played the following roles: Rash "In the hour of trials" by M. Auezov, Aktoty "Akhan-sere and Aktoty" by G. Musrepov, Bayan "Kozy Korpesh - Bayan Sulu" by G. Musrepov, Enlik "Enlik - Kebek" by M. Auezov, Togzhan "Abay" by M. Auezov, Sholpan "Aiman-Sholpan" by M. Auezov and others.

Ш. Sh. Dzhandarbekova is a laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan and was awarded the Orders of the Red Banner of Labor, Otan and the Medal for Labor Excellence. She was twice elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR.

In 2013, in Alma-Ata, a memorial plaque was unveiled in her honor on the wall of house No. 42 on Zhambyl Street, where Sholpan Dzhandarbekova lived.

The purpose of the exhibition is to promote the work of the outstanding theatrical actress. To show all facets of her talent, all sides of her creative path, to pay tribute to the great actress.
