On September 22 the specialists from the Information Resources Service of National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan held the workshop “Library Classification System at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Basic rules for indexing by UDC”.
Head of the foreign Literature processing group K.D. Avelbekova spoke about international and national documents that regulate the rules for compiling bibliographic records and the main provisions for cataloging.
Head of the national literature processing group A.K. Nesipbayeva held the practical lesson on the International Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), where she spoke about the rules for indexing and assigning indices.
Head of the Information Resources Service U.F. Sydykzhanova spoke about the work of the Cataloguer School, operating in the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the workshop, the issues of bibliographic description of fiction and foreign literature, observance of copyright and related rights, as well as issues of cataloging complex documents were considered.
