There in the reading hall of world literature is organized the permanently acting book exhibition named “The year 2021 – the International year of peace and trust” within the framework of announcing the Resolution of the General Assembly of the UNO dated September 12, 2019.

The General Assembly confirming the Charter of the Organization of United Nations and the goals and principles fixed in it in the regulation of disputes by peaceful means and the resolution to rid the coming generations from the calamities of war, announced  the year 2021 as the International year of peace and trust.

There in the Resolution of the UNO the co-authors of which were 73 states, is underlined that the carrying out of the International year of peace and trust is the means to mobilize the international community for the activity for the strengthening of peace and trust in the relations between the states, in particular on the basis of the political dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation for the purposes of attaining the steady peace, solidarity and harmony. The main provisions of the Resolution are in tune with the main UNO principles about the development of friendly relations between the nations on the basis of the principle of “equality and self-determination of the peoples”. 

 “Peace is not just the lack of conflicts but a positive, dynamic process with wide participation, in which dialogue is encouraged”, -is noted in the adopted Resolution.

The 17 goals in the sphere of steady development were unanimously adopted by the 193 states- members of the UNO at the historical Summit of the heads of states, which took place in New-York in September, 2015. The new agenda for the period till the year 2030 calls the states to start taking measures directed at the achievement of these goals in the following 15 years, when the implementation of each of them has crucial importance for the provision of peace and universal prosperity.

The book exhibition has the thematic divisions:

“The international agreements and international-legal documents for supporting peace and security”

“Disarmament, fighting terrorism and nuclear terrorism”;

“Human rights and support of peace”;

“Kazakhstan and the UNO”

There at the book exhibition from the fond of National library of the RK are presented the documents disclosing the work of the international organizations, government and non-government establishments in the sphere of supporting peace and security; the resolutions of the General Assembly of the UNO; the International agreement on human rights; the Declaration about the right of peoples for peace and other books by this theme in the Russian and English languages.
