From April 21 to April 23, 2025, as part of the celebration of the National Book Day, an exhibition of rare publications entitled «Kazak kitabyn syrly shezhiresi» and «Yerekshe Alem» was organized in the reading room of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Service of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition «Kazak kitabyn syrly shezhiresi» featured rare publications reflecting works on the historical development of the Kazakh written heritage and possessing high cultural value. In particular, visitors were offered: «Babur-nameh» by Zahir ad-din Muhammad Babur (1857), «Shezhire-i turik» by Abulgaza Bahadur Khan (1871), «Kirghiz Anthology» (1879) and «Islam is the pillar» (1884) by Ibrai Altynsarin, as well as «Adebiyet tanytkyshy» (1926) by Akhmet Baitursynov. In total, about 40 historical publications were on display at the exhibition.
The «Yerekshe Alem» section featured books that were unique, unusual in form and content. Among the exhibits are the oldest Koran written in a 12th—century Kufic script, the 17th-century «Color Triode» (17 cm thick), Kazakh comics of the early 20th century, the «Approved Letter» of 1904 (90×68 cm in size), the 16th-century Gospel decorated with gold illustrations, as well as the «Nogaku Zue» of 1898. It is 10.8 meters long. In total, about 30 rare editions were presented, which stood out both in content and form.
At the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to become more familiar with the rich written heritage of the Kazakh people and the history of printing, as well as comprehensively assess the historical and scientific value of the works presented.
