On January 29, 2025, the presentation of the book «Four Notebooks» by Layla Galimzhanova (1924-2017) took place at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Laila Galymovna Galimzhanovna was one of the organizers of Kazakh Television, the Minister of Culture, and the head of the Cultural department of the Office of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR.
The book «Four Notebooks» was prepared and published by members of L. G. Galimzhanova's family in 2024 for her 100th birthday and is intended for a wide range of readers.
The book includes memoirs and interviews of Layla Galievna, which reflect the complex and sometimes tragic history of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh people of the Soviet period, the fate of prominent representatives of the Kazakh intelligentsia.
The moderator of the event was Asel Karaulova, the publisher of the book «Four Notebooks», the granddaughter of L.G.Galimzhanova.
In his speech, the President of the Academy of Journalism of Kazakhstan, Professor Sagymbai Kozybayev, focused on the personality of Layla Galievna Galimzhanova and the importance of her memoirs for studying the history of Kazakhstan.
Poet, writer, translator, screenwriter Bakhytzhan Kanapyanov noted L.G. Galimzhanova's invaluable contribution to the development of the national cinematography, that it was during the period when she headed the country's culture that the masterpieces of Kazakh cinema «Kyz Zhibek», «The End of the Chieftain», «Moscow is Behind Us», «The Song of Manshuk», «Trans-Siberian the express.»
Kulgazira Nuranovna Baltabayeva, President of the Al-Farabi KazNU Alumni Association, highlighted the history of the Muslim clergy of Kazakhstan in the 20-30s of the twentieth century through the fate of L.G.Galimzhanova's father and grandfather.
The editors of the book «Four Notebooks» PhD in history, Professor Mikhail Akulov and PhD candidate, L. Galimzhanova's great-grandson Arslan Akanov spoke about the work on preparing the book for publication and noted the importance of Diaries as a source in the study of the history of late Soviet Kazakhstan.
Talgat Asylovich Mamashev, Valery Zhandauletov, a well-known journalist, academician of the Academy of Journalism of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Anastasia Taukelova, a book designer, and others also spoke at the presentation.
The event was attended by representatives of the creative and scientific intelligentsia, associates and colleagues of L.G. Galimzhanova, representatives of the media, and family members.
