A book exhibition «Ortalyk museуdegi gazhaiptar» dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been organized in the reading room of the Art Department.

The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the oldest and largest museums not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the entire Central Asian region, with collections totaling over 300,000 items.

In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the foundation of the archaeological collection was laid, mainly due to accidental finds and materials from the archaeological expedition of the famous researcher of the Kazakh region J.-A. Castanier.

In 1921, the People's Commissariat of Education issued a decree «On the reorganization of the Orenburg Museum of Local Lore into the Central Regional Museum of the Kyrgyz Territory.» Subsequently, the funds of the Orenburg Museum of Local Lore were divided into two parts - collections related to the nature and history of Kazakhstan were transferred to the Kazakh ASSR. On July 13, 1929, the Central Regional Museum of Kazakhstan was renamed the Central Museum of Kazakhstan.

In the period of the 40-80 years of the twentieth century, the museum's collection was replenished with a huge number of objects of museum significance, received as a result of archaeological and ethnographic research conducted in the republic. Most of these receipts are related to the activities of such reputable representatives of national science as Academician A.H. Margulan, Prof. K.Akishev, H. Argynbayev, M. Mukanov, and others, who at various times actively collaborated with the museum.

Currently, the museum has six main stationary halls, the diverse collections of which provide a visual representation not only of the paleontological past, but also of the ancient, medieval, modern, modern history and cultural tradition of Kazakhstan.

A special pride of the museum is the newly created Open Fund Hall, which currently exhibits a unique collection of archaeological gold, famous jewelry from the Zhalaulinsky, Chiliktinsky, Pokrovsky and Kargalinsky treasures, considered masterpieces of jewelry and applied art of the Saks, a collection of rare coins and banknotes; personal belongings of Abai, Sh. Ualikhanov, A.Zhangeldina and others. others .

The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the most visited museum in the country, which annually hosts over 250 thousand people.
