On January 24, 2025, the annual traditional ceremony of donating books to the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Almaty and the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in the Hall of World Literature on the eve of January 25, which is celebrated in Russia as «Russian Student Day» and «Tatiana's Day.»  

The event was held as part of the celebration of the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet, philosopher and national educator Abai Kunanbayev on the theme: «Abai and Pushkin: the art of inspiration.» These are symbols of friendship and cultural interaction between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia, thanks to which the work of prominent representatives of Eurasian culture has become an example of mutual understanding and cultural penetration and is widely known to the world community.

The second season of the international creative festival «Kazakhstan Pushkiniada» was opened in the format of the event, which covers several international projects: «Dialogue of Cultures» with the participation of representatives of the CIS and Asian countries; the «Talent Fair competition-festival» aimed at encouraging creative talented youth of the republic. The best works will be presented at the final gala concert dedicated to the «Day of the Russian Language». 

The event was opened by Deputy Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Yusupova.

The Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, B.K. Ospanova, made a welcoming speech, expressing gratitude for the many years of fruitful cooperation and the replenishment of the literature fund of the Book Corner of Russia.

The donation event was attended by Vice Consul General of the Consulate of Russia, head of the Russian House in Almaty Simakova M.S. In her speech, she congratulated the guests, students and students on the holiday and wished them success in their studies, emphasizing how much books and libraries are appreciated, which collect, preserve and provide access to literary, scientific and historical materials.

 Literature on the history and culture of Russia, fiction, scientific literature on various fields of knowledge, philology, and literary studies in the amount of 69 books were donated to the Book Corner of Russia at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among them: a series of books «The World through the eyes of Russians» («Southeast Asia», «On the islands of the Malay Archipelago», «Tropical Holland»); a series of books «Geniuses of the Russian land» in 4 parts; Sergey Dovlatov, collected works in 5 volumes; «Gazelles of Hafiz» in 2 parts; Fedorchenko V.I. «Senators of the Russian Empire. Encyclopedia of Biographies» in 2 volumes; Mikhaleva - Eger K. «350 years of modern fashion or the social history of an ordinary phenomenon»; encyclopedia «From Sputnik to Glonass»; «Russian Classics in Soviet Cinema»; «Golden Collection of the Museum of Cinema» and others.

The program featured the chief director of the State Academic Russian Theater for Children and Youth named after Natalia Sats Irina Simonova shared her impressions of working on the play «Ruslan and Lyudmila». The actors of the theater presented a production from the play and read poems from Abai's works.

Young specialists of the World Literature Service read Abai's poems in 5 languages of the world.  Ryskul Kaysar, a 9th grade student, performed Abai Kunanbayev's «Mai tuni» piece on dombra. The literary and musical composition «The Soul in the cherished lyre» was performed by pupils of the Nikolsky School. The flag in honor of the opening of the second season of the Kazakh Pushkin Olympiad has been handed over to enthusiasts who support the creative festival, which will visit different parts of Kazakhstan.

All the guests were invited to watch the new literature.
