On October 15, in the Great Hall of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a memorial evening «Berdibek biigi» and a presentation ceremony of books «Tandamaly», «Agasy men Karyndasy» were held in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Kazakh literature Berdibek Sokpakbayev, celebrated by UNESCO.  

Organizers: The National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the universal library of the Almaty region, the magazine «Baldyrgan», radio «Kazakh» and «Shalkar» in Almaty.

The event was moderated by Bakhyt Zhagiparuly, laureate of the President's Award, editor-in-chief of the Almaty branch of «Kazakh Radio» and «Radio Shalkar».

At the event, advisor of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.N. Otarbayev made a congratulatory speech and, as part of the 100th anniversary of the writer, presented the book «Menin atym Kozha» translated into Azerbaijani to the fund of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the event was attended by: laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, poet N. Orazalin; head of the Department of Culture of the city of Almaty G. A. Mailybaev; literary critic, Ph.D., laureate of the International Literary Award «Alash» B. Ybyrayim; head of the children's literature section of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan N. Akysh; children's writer, laureate Republican literary Award «Alash», editor-in-chief of the magazine «Baldyrgan» D. M. Maglumov.

At the event, with the support of the Akimat of Almaty region and the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, a presentation of the collection «Tandamaly», the works of B. Sokpakbayev «Agasy men Karyndasy», published in the magazine «Baldyrgan» and the bibliographic index «Berdibek Sokpakbayev (1924-1991)», prepared by the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took place.

Within the framework of the event, a book exhibition «Berdibektin biigi» was organized from the fund of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the life and work of B. Sokpakbayev, and a documentary film «Berdibektin auylyna sayakhat» was shown.

Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Sulushash Nurmagambetova and singers of the Rayymbek regional House of Culture of the Almaty region also performed. Students of KazNPU named after Abaya and students of gymnasium № 123 named after him.Khoja Ahmed Yasawi read excerpts from poems and works by B. Sokpakbayev.
