On September 9, 2024, a book donation ceremony for the Book Corner of China from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty was held in the Hall of Culture and Literature of China of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was held as part of the celebration of Almaty City Day and dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Book Corner of China.

The Deputy Director for Information Technologies and Innovations of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A.Iskalieva made a welcoming speech.

The Consul General of China in Almaty, Ms. Jiang Wei, delivered a congratulatory speech. In her speech, she noted that the transferred collection of books was selected taking into account the wishes of readers and thanked the leadership of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan for many years of cooperation.

105 copies of books in 43 titles on the history, traditions and culture of China, fiction and popular science, educational literature translated from Chinese into Kazakh and Russian languages, as well as modern technical equipment for the modernization of the Book Corner of China were donated.

Among the donated publications are a series of books: «Myths and Legends of China», the Wisdom of «Lun Yu», «Chinese Parables», «History of Chinese Musical Drama», as well as books «Essays on Chinese Culture», «Studying Chinese Calligraphy», «15 lectures on the archaeology of the Great Silk Road», «Chinese traditions and customs», «Stories about the geography of China» and others.

Kadai Kamiya, Librarian of the World Literature Service, conducted a bibliographic review of new books.

The head of the World Literature Service, S.T.Tuyakova, spoke about the 20-year activity of the Book Corner of China, noted the joint events held.

The donation ceremony was attended by teachers and students of the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College. A young specialist A.Alkambai conducted an introductory tour of the library for students, after which they became readers.
