On August 29, 2024, the head of the World Literature Service group Kuliyeva Bayan Ungarovna and librarian of the Art Department of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mambayeva Aisulu Baizakovna visited the exhibition «Memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki» dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki - one of the most terrible events in the history of mankind, which was held at the Central State the Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition was organized by the Memorial Hall of Peace in cooperation with the Kazakh-Japanese Center with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Kazakhstan, Narkhoz University, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as a number of Japanese and Kazakhstani organizations.
The main purpose of the exhibition is to honor the memory of the victims of these tragic events and to realize the importance of peace and mutual understanding.
The event began with a minute of silence in memory of those killed in the atomic bombing. Director of the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan Haripova Rashida Yerimovna made a welcoming speech, and also made speeches: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Kazakhstan Mr. Yamada Jun, Director of the Nagasaki National Peace Hall Mr. Nose Hiroshi, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vice-President of the International Anti-Nuclear Movement «Nevada – Semipalatinsk», Vice-President of the Academy of Journalism of the Republic of Kazakhstan Valery Aitmukashevich Zhandauletov.
The exhibition featured: photo stands demonstrating the consequences of what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki; documentaries and chronicles about the atomic tragedies caused by the bombing; diaries of people who survived the tragedy.
At the end of the event, the visitors of the exhibition left their wishes for peace, which will be delivered to Nagasaki for storage in the Peace Memorial Complex.
