In the O. Zhandosov reading room of the Kazakhstan Kitaptary Service, a book exhibition «Ata Zan – turaktylyk kepili» was organized, dedicated to August 30 - Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The current Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was adopted on August 30, 1995 at a national referendum.  The Constitution is the basic law of society and the state, which has the highest legal force in relation to other sources of national law, consolidating and regulating the foundations of the social and state system, fundamental rights, freedoms, duties of man and citizen, as well as the principles of organization and activity of local governments. The Constitution is the core of the entire legal system.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the holding of a referendum on June 5, 2022 on amendments to the Constitution. According to the president, the purpose of the amendments is the transition to a «new state model, a new format of interaction between the state and society,» and the transition «from a super—presidential form of government to a presidential republic with an influential parliament and an accountable government».

The referendum, which took place on June 5, 2022, will now allow every citizen to take a direct part in deciding the fate of the country and will become a vivid demonstration of the people's will, strengthen the course towards comprehensive democratization and building a New Kazakhstan.

The purpose of the exhibition is to popularize the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other legal documents in society, to demonstrate through book publications high responsibility and patriotism, unity of the peoples of Kazakhstan.

The book exhibition consists of three sections. The first section «Ata Zan - asyl murattar bastauy» tells about the first legal laws of steppe democracy, about the important rules of Kazakh society, materials about the historical period of time: «Zheti zhargy» (1993), «Sot reformalary turaly zhazbalar» Sh.Ualikhanov (2003) and publications issued within the framework of the State program «Cultural Heritage» «The Ancient World of the Kazakhs» (2004), «Dasturli kukyktagi biler soty» (2008), as well as the Constitution and collections of laws.

The second section «Ata Zan - tauelsizdik tiregi» demonstrates constitutional laws, books in Kazakh and Russian, among which: «Tauelsizdik tartulary» (2001), «Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan» (2001), «Tauelsiz Kazakhstan – egemendi memleket» (2004), «Ethnos and religion» (2007), a collection of documents in 10 volumes under the direction of Academician Salyk Zimanov (2009).

The third section «Ata Zan – aybinym» presents literature on the dictum of the law of the Kazakhs in the words of edification of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayuly, commander Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, etc.
