In the reading room of the Art Department, a book exhibition «Orchestr – el serisi kudireti» was organized, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Honored Collective of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Winner of world and international competitions of the Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy.
The Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy was established on June 25, 1934 as a dombra ensemble and consisted of 11 musicians. Later, it was transformed into an Orchestra by the musicologist, composer and conductor Akhmet Zhubanov. In 1944, the Orchestra was named after the great Kazakh folk musician, composer and author of kuev Kurmangazy.
The orchestra participates in many international and national forums, festivals, competitions, decades, holidays, tribunes, conferences. He is the winner of the first prize and the title of Laureate of the IV World Festival of Youth and Students in Bucharest (1953). He was awarded the honorary titles «Honored Collective of the Republic» (1967), «Academic» (1978), and on November 29, 1984 he was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples. In 2020, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.-Zh. Tokayev, the Orchestra was awarded national status.
The touring and concert activities of the Orchestra are wide, which has performed not only in the republic and the CIS, but also in many countries of the far abroad.
Many outstanding soloists have given concerts with him: K. Baiseitova, R. Baglanova, S. Kiizbayeva, B. Tulegenova, R. Dzhamanova, R. and M. Abdullina, A. Dnishev, G. Yessimov, N. Usenbayeva, J. Baspakova, Sh. Abilov and others.
Today, the creative shift is true to the glorious artistic and performing traditions of the luminaries - the founders of the Orchestra – A. Zhubanov, D. Nurpeisova, L. Mukhitova, U. Yerkakov, U. Kabigozhin, K. Medetov, K. Zhantleuov, G. Bayazitova, J. Kalambaeva, G. Kabasheva, L. Mozova.
To date, the Orchestra employs 90 talented musicians, each of whom is able to represent our Kazakhstan at various competitions.
The purpose of the Orchestra's activity is the practical implementation of cultural policy, organization and holding of concert events in the field of music in Kazakhstan, near and far abroad.
The repertoire fund of the Orchestra consists of over 5,000 works. The Orchestra is especially proud of them. Kurmangazy has an extensive and comprehensive repertoire. There are also large–format genres - symphonies, cantatas, concerts for the entire Orchestra and for individual instruments accompanied by an Orchestra, kuis and concert arrangements of folk songs. Along with kuys and songs by Kazakh folk composers: Kurmangazy, Tattimbet, D. Nurpeisova, Dauletkerei, works by composers of the academic school – A.Zhubanov, M.Tulebaev, E.Brusilovsky, L.Hamidi, N.Tlendiev - are also performed.
The Orchestra's repertoire includes works by world and foreign classics such as Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Mozart, Verdi, Schubert.
The purpose of the exhibition is to acquaint readers with the history and creative development of the Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy.
