In the reading room of the Art Department, a book exhibition «Kazakh shykkan tungysh kasibi skripkashi» was organized, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first professional Kazakh violinist, one of the founders of the professional violin school of Kazakhstan, associate professor of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, participant of the Second World War Aitkesh Tolganbayev.

Aitkesh Tolganbayev was born in 1924 in the village of Karaul in Semipalatinsk region. He had a romantic nature and an absolute musical ear. When he heard a melody on the radio, he could instantly pick it up on mandolin, guitar, dombra or sybyzgy. In 1936, A.Tolganbayev entered the Music and Drama college, in the violin class of I.A. Lesman.

In 1942, 18-year-old Aitkesh goes to war to defend his homeland. Having received a concussion and wounds in the leg, he is captured by the Nazis. In 1946-1955, he was repressed and was in exile in Kolyma. During the 25 years of the camps, Aitkesh not only led the pop symphony orchestra of exiled musicians, but also worked at a logging site, mined gold, stokered, and washed clothes. The violin helped him survive in the camps, and fate was preparing Aitkesh Tolganbayev for a new test. Almost all his life, until the collapse of the USSR, A. Tolganbayev lived with the label of a traitor to the Motherland. It was only in May 1992 that the prosecutor's office of independent Kazakhstan finally removed this stigma from him. He had been waiting for this moment for forty years and thirty-three days.

In 1956 he entered the Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1961. He worked as a teacher at the conservatory.

Today, Tolganbayev's name is included in the golden fund of the Kazakh musical art.

Compositions by Kazakh composers occupy a large place in the violinist's repertoire. These are E. Brusilovsky's sonata «Boz-Aigyr», N. Tlendiev's plays «Dreams», A. Zhubanov's «Aria», «Zhez-kiik», H. Tastanov's «Altai Ayasynda», as well as his own arrangements of folk tunes «Gaini», «Naz-konyr», songs of Birzhan, kuis  Kurmangazy. A. Tolganbayev devoted a lot of time to pedagogical work at the conservatory, where he led a violin class and supervised pedagogical practice.

The pedagogical work of the artist is closely intertwined with scientific and methodological activities. This is eloquently evidenced by the musician's works devoted to the problems of pedagogy, performance and repertoire. In the «Self-help»  book he created, A. Tolganbayev skillfully alternates instructional, pedagogical and artistic material. Kazakh melodies and kuis are widely used in it, the material is consistently systematized and logically distributed. The "tutorial" is useful not only in cities, but also in rural music schools, it is also available to non-professionals, a good assistant in amateur art circles.

Aitkesh Tolganbayev took an active part in public life. He was a member of the educational and methodological sector of the Ministry of Education of the Kazakh SSR, chairman of the republican competitions of students of music schools, chairman of the state commissions of musical and cultural schools of the republic, a regular participant in numerous patronage concerts.

The purpose of the exhibition is to acquaint readers with the difficult life and creative path of A.Tolganbayev, to increase their interest in musical art.

Tolganbayev: «Katal tagdyr talkegi»; «Skripka uyrenu mektebi»; «Skripkaga arnalgan piesalar»; «Kobyz zhane kylkobyzga arnalgan piesalar»; «Kurmangazy atyndagy Ulttyk conservatoriyasy»; D.Zh.
