There in the reading hall after Oraz Zhandosov of the Service «Kazakstan kitaptary» is organized the book exhibition «Ulttyn ulagatty ustazy», dedicated to the centenary of birth of the people’s writer of Kazakhstan, the winner of the State prize after Abai Azilkhan Nurshayikhov.

Azilkhan Nurshayikhov was born on December 15, 1922 in the Zharminskiy district of the Semipalatinskaya region. Azilkhasn Nurshayikhov from 14 years old became the fan of poetry. His first verses and articles were published in the district, regional and republican editions. The young poet entered the Kazakh pedagogical school after Abai in Semei city, after that he studied also there at the pedagogical institute after N. Krupskaya.   

In 1940 he worked as a teacher at the secondary school of the Zharminskiy district. In  1941, when there started the Great Patriotic war, the 19-year old Azilkhan was called to the Red Army. He went through the whole of the war as the commander of the cannon of the 100-th Kazakh shooters brigade, he fought at the Kaliniskiy, the 2-nd Baltic, the 1-st and 2-nd Byellorussian fronts.

After the war A. Nurshayikhov enters the philological faculty of the Kazakh state university after S.M. Kirov. After graduating from the university, he works at the editorial office of the newspaper «Socialistyk Kazakstan», in which he worked for 17 years, beginning from the literary worker, after that as deputy executive secretary, head of department, the own correspondent for the Pavlodarskaya region, then as deputy chief editor. In 1953-1956 he is the editor of the Pavlodarskaya regional newspaper “Kyzyl tu”, in 1963-1965 – chief editor of the republican newspaper «Kazak adebiyety». After that he was the worker of the Institute of literature and art after M. Auezov. In 1968 – head of the editorial office of the language, literature and folklore in the newly opened editorial office of the Kazakh Soviet encyclopaedia. He participated in the publication of the first volumes of the encyclopaedia and wrote approximately about one hundred encyclopaedic articles. Member of the Board of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.

Nurshayikhov for many years worked as a journalist. Together with the journalist activity he was ermanently occupied with the literary labour. Gradually there formed the  creative style of the writer. The multiyear fruitful creative work of A. Nurshayikhov is marked by the orders: «Glory of the 3-rd degree», «The patriotic war of the 2-nd degree» (1944), «The badge of honour» (1956), «Friendship of the peoples» (1984), «Parasat» (2005), «Otan» (2010) and the medals: «For valour» (1943), «For military merits» (1944), «For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945», «For liberating of Warsaw» (1945). The people’s writer of the Kazakh SSR (1990), the winner of the State prize after Abai (1980), the winner of the International literary prize after A. Fadeyev (1987).

In 2016 there in the reading-hall after O. Zhandosov of the Service «Kazakstan kitaptary» of National library of the RK with the purpose of commemorating of the memory of the known writer A. Nurshayikhov and the popularization of his creative heritage was opened the memorial cabinet. Here is re-created the interior of the home work cabinet and are kept the private things of the writer. Annually there within the walls of National library of the RK is held the summing up of the results of the Competition of literary creative activity «The world and man» among the pupils of the schools and universities for winning the stipend after the people’s writer Nurshayikhov.

There at the book exhibition «Ulttyn ulagatty ustazy» from the fond of National library of the RK are presented the materials about the life and activity of Azilkhan Nurshayikhov, his works, articles and recollections about him on the pages of the periodical press. Azilkhan Nurshayikhov is the author of the multiple collections, essays, stories, short novels and novels: «The letter to Dzhambul», «The years of joy and love», «The truth and the legend», «Me and my contemporaries», «The song of eternal love», «The ornaments of life» and others. There for the novel «The truth and the legend» about the legendary Hero of the Soviet Union Bauyrzhan Momyshuly the author was awarded the State prize of the Kazakh SSR after Abai (1978).

The purpose of the exhibition is the acquaintance of the readers with the creative and public activity of the outstanding Kazakhstani writer A. Nurshayikhov, who made the considerable contribution into the flourishing of Kazakh literature.
