There in the hall after O. Zhandosov of the Service «Kazakstan kitaptary» is organized the book exhibition «Ult rukhynyn shyrakshysy» dedicated to the 80-th anniversary of the people’s writer, poet and public figure Mukhtar Shakhanov.

Mukhtar Shakhanov was born on July 2, 1942 in the village of Karasu of the Kazygurtskiy district of the Southern-Kazakhstani region. In 1969 he graduated from the Shymkentskiy pedagogical institute. In 1961-1965 – the literary worker of the newspaper «Ontyustik Kazakstan», in 1965-1970 – the own correspondent of the newspaper «Leninshyl zhas».

In 1971-1976 – the senior, chief editor of the State committee for tele-radio casting of Kazakhstan, in 1976-1979 – the head of the department of the State committee of Kazakhstan for the affairs of the press, polygraphy and book trade. In 1980-1984 he was the head of the literary circle at the republican newspaper «Leninshyl zhas», in 1984-1993 – chief editor of the republican youth’s magazine «Zhalyn», the secretary of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan. In 1989-1990 headed the committee of the Supreme Soviet for investigation of the reasons of the events in December, 1986. In 1993-2003 – the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. In 2004-2007 was the deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the RK.    

There at the book exhibition «Ult rukhynyn shyrakshysy» are presented the encyclopaedias, the materials about the life and creative activity of M. Shakhanov, and also the books of the author from the fond of National library of the RK. The exhibition acquaints the reader with the works of M. Shakhanov: «Happiness» (1966), «Tanakoz» (1970), «Seikhundariya» (1974), «Protection of love» (1978), «The Narynkum tragedy» (1980), «The Otrar dastan…» (1988) and others. There on the basis of the dramatical works of M. Shakhanov came out the two-serial tele-film «The secret of Chingiz-khan». His works are translated into more than 40 languages of the world and published in different corners of the planet. His poetical evenings were carried out with success in Moscow (Russia), Stockholm (Sweden), Glasgow, Edinburg (Scotland), Rene (France), Kobe (Japan).  

The purpose of the book exhibition is the propagation and acquaintance with the life and creative activity of M. Shakhanov who was conducive for the development of the Kazakh literature. 

Awarded the Golden medal after A. Einstein of the Academy of sciences of industry, knowledge and art of California (USA). Mukhtar Shakhanov is the people’s poet of Kyrgyzstan (1994), the people’s writer of Kazakhstan (1996), the winner of the International prize of the Turkish Republic «For the merits sin the Turkish world» (1999), the honorary writer of Kazakhstan (2019), the wi9nner of the prize of the Programme of UNO for environment, winner of the Independent prize «Tarlan». The honorary citizen of the cities of Shymkent and Bishkek.

On June 16, 2022 the President of the RK Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev awarded him the title «Kazakhstannyn Enbek Ery» with the handing of the order «Otan» for the great contribution into the development of Kazakh literature.
