There in the hall after Oraz Zhandosov of the Service «Kazakstan kitaptary» is organized the book exhibition «Kakharman Kazak kyzy», dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the Hero of the Soviet Union Mametova Manshuk Zhiyengaliyevna.

Mametova Manshuk  (her real name Mansiya) was born on October 23, 1922 in the Urdinskiy district of the Western-Kazakhstani region. Her childhood years passed in Almaty, she studied in the secondary school № 28. At the beginning of the Second world war Manshuk studied at the Medical institute and at the same time she worked at the secretariat of the Sovnarkom of the republic.

On August 13, 1942 as a volunteer she went to the front. She participated in the fights within the 100-th shooters brigade and the 21-st shooters division. There at the front she finished the courses of the sub-machine gunners and she was appointed as number one of the sub-machine point in the combat unit. On October 15, 1943 there in the hard fights for the liberation of the city of Nevel while defending the dominant height and being left alone from the sub-machine team and being heavily wounded by the fragment into the head, she destroyed 70 soldiers of the enemy and perished with the death of the courageous. On March 1, 1944 there by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR the senior sergeant Manshuk Mametova was awarded the posthumous title of Hero of the Soviet Union. She was the first girl from Kazakhstan awarded this high award.

In 1962 there in Uralsk city opened the museum of M. Mametova. After her are named the streets, the schools. There in the cities of Nevel, Uralsk, Almaty, at the Motherland of Manshuk – in the village of Urda are established the monuments. There by the script of Mikhalkov-Konchalovskiy the director M. Begalin shot the film about the life and the feat named «The song about Manshuk» (1969).

There at the book exhibition «Kakharman Kazak kyzy» are presented the materials about the life of M. Mametova: the encyclopaedias and biographical  reference books. After that the exhibition reflects the materials which glorify the heroism of the legendary sub-machine gunner: the books and articles about her on the pages of the periodical press.

The purpose of the book exhibition is the acquaintance of the readers with the heroism and contribution of Manshuk Mametova into the general Victory during the Second world war, and also the upbringing of the feeling of patriotism, love for Motherland of the growing generation.
