There in the reading hall after O. Zhandosov of the Service «Kazakstan kitaptary» is organized the book exhibition «Alem tanygan Auezov», dedicated to the 125-th birthday of the greatest Kazakh writer, the prominent public and state figure, academician of the AS of the Kazakh SSR Mukhtar Omarkhanovich Auezov.
Mukhtar Omarkhanovich Auezov was born on September 28, 1897 in the Chingizskaya volost of the Semipalatinskiy uyezd, at the birth place of great Abai. The first teacher was grandfather Auez, who acquainted the grandchild with the subtleties of Arabic grammar. He received his education at the Russian school, at the teachers’ seminary, at the philological faculty of the Leningsradskiy state university, at the post-graduate course of the Middle-Asian university (Tashkent city).
Auezov is the collector, compiler and editor of the post-revolutionary editions of the works of the poet, the first scientific biographer and researcher of the creative activity of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev. The writer dedicated to him a number of articles, the libretto for the opera, the cinema scenario, the tragedy and the novel-epopee «The way of Abai» (1952). There in 1959 for the novel to M. Auezov was awarded the Lenin’s prize. The work received the world-wide recognition as one of the best novels of the XX-th century and it was translated into the tens of languages of the peoples of Europe, Asia and Africa.
Auezov is the laureate of the Stalinist (1949) and the Leninist prizes (1959). He is awarded with the orders «Badge of Honour» (1949), two orders of the Labour Red Banner (1945, 1956), the order of Lenin (1957), the medal «For labour valiance» and the honorary certificatesof the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. The honored figure of science of the KazSSR, academician of the Academy of sciences of the Kazakh SSR.
There in the fond of National library of the RK are kept the materials about the life and activity of M. Auezov, his works, scientific works, articles and literature about him. The purpose of the book exhibition is the acquaintance with the life and creative activity of the great Kazakh writer.
The book exhibition «Alem tanygan Auezov» is represented with the materials of encyclopaedias, biographical reference editions, artistic literature and the literature about him.
The first work of M. Auezov was the play «Enlik – Kebek» (1917), based upon the popular legend about the tragical destiny of two young people. In the 1920-s the writer starts working upon the artistic prose, he writes the stories and short novels: «The destiny of the defenceless girl», «Who is guilty?», «The grey furious», «Karash-Karash» and others. The short novel «The dashing year» (1928) is dedicated to the national-liberation revolt of 1916. The drama «Karakoz» (1926) restores with wonderful sensitivity and historical truthfulness the national peculiarities of the folk singers of Kazakhstan.
Auezov is the author of more than 20 plays: «Aiman-Sholpan» (1934), «Abai», «Kara kypshak Koblandy» (1943-1944), «The summer lighting» (1934), «On the frontier» (1937), «In the hour of testing» (1942) and others. There upon the scenes of the theatres of Kazakhstan still go the plays of the writer.
The creative heritage of the writer is exceptionally great and multiform. In 1961 the name of M. Auezov was given to the Kazakh academic theatre of drama, in Almaty city to the Institute of literature and art of the AS of the Kazakh SSR. There in the square of the Kazakh national theatre of opera and ballet after Abai is established his monument. There with the name of the writer is named one of the main streets and the district of Almaty city, the schools and universities in the cities of Kazakhstan, and also the streets in the cities Bishkek and Minsk.
