There in the reading hall after Oraz Zhandosov department is organized the book exhibition “Balalar adebiytynyn baiteregy” dedicated to the life and creative activity of the Kazakhstani writer, translator, publicist Sapargali Yskakuly Begalin.

Begalin Sapargali Yskakuly was born on November 24, 1895 in the village of Degelen of the Abai district of the Eastern-Kazakhstani region. In 1915 he finished the Russian-Kirghiz special school in Semipalatinsk city.

In 1916-1917 through the mobilization he got to the rear works under Petrograd. Returning home, he becomes an active propagator of the Soviet power. In 1921 he is elected chairman of the Degelensk volost executive committee and a member of the uyezd executive committee, in 1923 – the people’s judge of the Karkaralinsk uyezd of the Semipalatinsk guberniya court. After that he is invited to the responsible work at the Kaznarkozem in the department of the Turksib. In 1935-1956 he works at the republican newspaper of the railroad workers “Temirzholshy”, at the Institute of linguistics and literature (now the Institute of literature and art and the Institute of linguistics after A.Baitursynov) of the Academy of sciences of Kazakhstan, at the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.

The main thing in the creative activity of S.Begalin are the works for children and he is rightfully called to be the founder of the Kazakh children’s literature. The first verses “Kazak kyzbozbalaryna” were published in 1914 in the magazine “Aikap”. The poem “The revenge of the eagle” which came out in 1943 became his first book. There to the pen of the writer belong twenty five poems, a novel, twelve short novels, multiple stories, nine one-act plays: “The winged Kazakh” (1947), “The Tsimlyan sea” (1953), “The adolescent” (1960), “The school friends” (1961), “The mysterious source” (1963), “The apple of Yermek” (1955), “Satzhan” (1947), “The ridges” (1971), the novel “The milestones of time” (1975) and others.

S.Begalin made a considerable contribution into the publication of the works of the well-known people’s poets I.Baizakov, D.Alimbayev, Sh.Koshkarbayev, K.Teribayev, T.Kobdikov, he wrote the monograph about the life and creative activity of Zhambyl Zhabayev (1946). An especial place in the creative activity of the writer occupy the short-novels about Chokan Ualikhanov (1976).

The works of S.Begalin were translated into many languages of the world. He gave much power to artistic translation. He translated into the Kazakh language the works of A.S. Pushkin, N.Leskov, M.Yu.Lermontov and others.

S.Begalin is a popular the poet of the songs. He is the author of the texts of the modern Kazakh songs: “Aktamak”, “The white pigeon”, “The lullaby” and others.

The fruitful creative contribution of S.Begalin into the Kazakh literature was evaluated by the awards: the two orders of “The Badge of honour”, “Friendship of the peoples” (1975) and the medals. There in honour of S.Begalin was named the State republican children’s library in Almaty city, after his name were named the streets, there was established the memorial plaque in Almaty city where he lived from 1976 to 1083.

Sapargali Begalin died on March 5, 1983 in Almaty city.

There at the book exhibition “Balalar adebiytynyn baiteregy” out of the fond of National library of the RK are presented the materials about the life and creative activity of Sapargali Begalin, his works, articles and recollections about him on the pages of the periodical press.
