On September 19, 2024, the 4th day of the International Training Seminar on the topic «Preservation and restoration of documents - the basis for ensuring the safety of library collections» continued at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The first section of the fourth day of the seminar began with restoration work on leather bindings and book spines, which was carried out by a restorer of the highest category of the Center for Conservation and Restoration of Documents of the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino Irina Aleksandrovna Shilova.The second section, attended by specialists-custodians of libraries, archives and museums, considered issues of biological monitoring of the library fund, the causes of damage to the material basis of the document and measures to prevent them, completed work on stabilization of documents with biological damage in the laboratory of scientific preservation of library documents. The biological control section was conducted by Alexey Anatolyevich Kashcheev, an expert in chemical and technological expertise at the All-Russian Art Scientific and Restoration Center named after Academician I.E. Grabar.
The Moscow colleagues also visited the scientific and restoration laboratory «Island of Crimea», where they were presented with the work of the collective for the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
