On May 18, the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a cultural and educational event "The Author of the Century", dedicated to the 88th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Kazakhstan, Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan, poet, researcher, diplomat, statesman and public figure, director of the International Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO Olzhas Suleimenov.
The moderators of the event were: senior editor of «Kazakh Radio» Bakhyt Zhagyparuly and journalist Bukayeva Dina Maratovna.
The event was opened by the Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ospanova Bakytzhamal Kairbekovna with a congratulatory speech. She also presented a video with the presentation ceremony of the new book «The Age of Epiphany» by Olzhas Suleimenov with his participation. The author of the book expressed confidence that the presented book «The Age of Epiphany» will be valuable for many readers, and wished the event a success.
At the solemn event, the moderators read congratulatory letters with wishes from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, cultural scientist, diplomat, statesman and public figure Murat Auezov, Akim of Aktobe Azamat Beket.
Igor Vladimirovich Krupko, head of the Department of External Relations of the International Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO, made a speech at the event, who presented a documentary film «The Author of the Century» about Olzhas Suleimenov, dedicated to the 88th anniversary of the poet, specially prepared based on archival materials.
Zhandauletov Valery Aitmukashuly, Vice-president of the international anti-nuclear movement Nevada-Semey, poet, translator, journalist Isadil Almat also spoke, and read poems dedicated to Olzhas Suleimenov.
The event was attended by representatives of the creative intelligentsia, poets and writers, public figures, the media, etc.
