From January 23 to February 3, the employees of the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Head of the Restoration Department Sadvakasova A.K., were trained at the School for the Conservation and Restoration of Written Documents, operating at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and artist-restorer Perova O.B.

In the laboratory of scientific preservation of documents, the museum specialists received both theoretical knowledge on the study of GOSTs for the conservation of documents, on covers and bindings, and practical skills in biological and physico-chemical stabilization of documents: pH determination, acid neutralization, blocking of heavy metal ions. In the Conservation, Restoration and Binding Service, they got acquainted with the instrumental base of the Service, conservation and restoration work to restore documents, gained practical skills in working with rare books and leather, and also learned how to work in graphic programs for restoring covers and sheets.

At the end of the two-week training at the School for the Conservation and Restoration of Written Documents, the specialists received the Certificate of the course completion. The museum staff expressed their gratitude to the employees of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the knowledge gained and the opportunity to improve their skills in the field of documentary heritage preservation.
