On the 2nd of June in the hall of the Literary Academy of the library as part of the project to support children's and youth reading took place a poetry evening "The Great Teacher of the People", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Akhmet Baitursynov.

Akhmet Baitursynov (1872-1937) was a Kazakh poet, statesman, literary scholar, teacher, educator, publicist, founder of Kazakh linguistics and literary studies, member of the "Alash" party. In 2022 the 150th anniversary of Akhmet Baitursynov is included in the UNESCO Calendar of commemorative dates.

The aim of the event is to present and discuss the role and significance of the multifaceted personality of the spiritual leader of the "Alash" movement, the founder of Kazakh linguistics, who stood at the origins of national culture and literature.

During the event, was presented the information about the life of A. Baitursynov. He began his career by writing poems that reflected the dreams and needs of the working people. The poet called the public to reading, education, spiritual development, morality and culture. The first Kazakh alphabet, phonetics, syntax and etymology of Kazakh language, theory of literature and history of culture were the result of scientific and pedagogical labors of Akhmet Baitursynov. His tireless and painstaking work helped Akhmet Baitursynov to bring the Kazakh literature to the highest level and set up the firm basis for the national school and the Kazakh literature. The works of Akhmet Baitursynov are widely popular among the readers of the libraries.

Kuttykyz Kasymbekova, head of the "Kazakhstan Kiptary" Service Group, moderated the meeting and delivered a cognitive report on the life and work of Akhmet Baitursynov. 

Students of the first year of Almaty State Humanitarian-Pedagogical College No. 2 took an active part and read their poems. There was an interesting discussion about the book " Ult ustazy" dedicated to Akhmet Baitursynov.

Students and teacher of the College Svetlana Zholynova Kamalkyzy were awarded letters of gratitude from the National Library of Kazakhstan for active participation in the literary evening.

There also was organized a book exhibition from the collection of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan about the life and creative activities, works of Akhmet Baitursynov written in different years: "Ak zhol" (1991), "Til taglymy" (1992), "Zhoktau" (1993), "Zhan sozimdі kim tusiner" (1994), "Zhana nizam" (1996), "Kyryk mysal" (2001), "Masa" (2005), "Bes tomdyk shygarmalar zhinagy" (2002), "Shygarmalary" (2013) and other works.
