There in the reading hall after O. Zhandosov of the Service “Kazakstan kitaptary” is organized the book exhibition “Kazak soz onerinyn maitalmany”, dedicated to the 120-th birthday of the Kazakh writer, the public and state figure, dramaturgist, academician Gabit Makhmutovich Musrepov.    

Musrepov Gabit Makhmutovich was born on March 22, 1902 in the village Zhanazhol of the Zhambylskiy district of the Southern-Kazakhstani region. In 1908-1910 he studied at the village school, in 1916-1918 at the Russian school which he finished in 1921. In 1923-1926 he studied at the Orenburg work faculty, in 1927 he finished the one course of the Siberian agricultural academy in Omsk city.

G. Musrepov is the outstanding Kazakh writer, the state and public figure, one of the founders of national dramaturgy, the translator, historian, critic, literary expert, academician of the Academy of sciences of Kazakhstan (1985), Hero of Socialist Labour (1974), winner of the State prize of the Kazakh SSR after Abai (1970), the Prize after Sh. Ualikhanov (1976), the people’s writer of Kazakhstan (1976). Awarded with 3 orders of Lenin, 2 orders of the Labour Red Banner, the orders of the Friendship of peoples, the October Revolution and medals.

The first part of the book exhibition “Kazak soz onerinyn maitalmany” acquaints the readers with the materials about the life and activity of G. Musrepov. From 1928 he is chief editor , from 1931 – head of “Kazgoslitizdat”, from 1934 – chief editor of the newspaper “Kazak adebiyety”, “Socialistyk Kazakstan”. In 1937-1938 – head of the Department for the affairs of art at the Soviet people’s commissariat of the Kazakh SSR, in 1938-1956 – member of the boardof the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, in 1956-1957 – chief editor of the magazine “Shmel” – “Ara”, in 1957-1966 – chairman of the board of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan. In 1958 elected secretary of the Writers’ Union of the USSR, member of the State committee of the USSR for the Leninist and State prizes in the sphere of literature, art and architecture.

The second part of the exhibition acquaints the readers with the creative activity of the writer. The first short novel – “In the turmoil” (1928) at once raised the interest of the readers. After that there appeared the short novels and stories: “Kos shalkar” (1928), “The tunnel” (1935), “The first steps” (1932). G. Musrepov is also the author of such large literary works like “Amangeldy” (1935), “Kozy Korpesh – Bayan Sulu” (1939), “Akan seri - Aktokty” and others. The novel “The soldier from Kazakhstan” (1945) acquired the world renown, glorifying the Kazakh literature. In 1968 there is published the collection of his stories and short novels “Once and for the whole life” for which the writer was awarded the State prize of the Kazakh SSR after Abai in 1970. In 1976 there is published the novel “Her name is Ulpan”. G. Musrepov is the author of the literary-critical and publicistic works, many of which entered the collections: “The debt of the artist” awarded the Prize after Sh. Ualikhanov in 1977.

G. Musrepov is one of the founders of national dramaturgy. His first experience is the musical drama “Kyz-Zhibek” – is written by the motives of the same-named folk lyrical poem. Later on the basis of this drama Musrepov wrote the libretto of the opera “Kyz-Zhibek”. He also actively worked in the sphere of cinema dramaturgy. Already in 1936 in co-authorship with Vsevolod Ivanov and Beimbet Mailin there was written the scenario for the first Kazakh feature film “Amangeldy”. Also there by his scenario were shot the films ”The poem about life”, “Once and for the whole life”, “Kyz-Zhibek”.

G. Musrepov participated actively in the public-political work of the republic and the former USSR. He was elected many times to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the Kazakh SSR. There in 1974 to G. Musrepov was awarded the title of “The honorary citizen of Petropavlovsk city”. There after Musrepov were named: one of the streets in Nur-Sultan city, the district in the Northern-Kazakhstan region, the Kazakh state theatre for children and youth in Almaty. In 1991 there was opened the Literary-memorial museum-house of G.Musrepov where there lived the writer. In 2002 there for the centenary of the writer in Almaty was established the bronze monument in Ablai-khan avenue before the building of the theatre of young spectator after G.Musrepov. There from the Abai avenue upwards towards the Exhibition is made the boulevard of Musrepov.
There in the third part of the book exhibition are presented the books and articles of the well-known Kazakhstani personalities about G. Musrepov on the pages of the periodical editions.
The purpose of the book exhibition “Kazak soz onerinyn maitalmany” is the propagation and acquaintance with the life and creative activity, the rich literary heritage of the great Kazakh writer G. Musrepov who was conducive to the establishment and flourishing of the national literature.
