There in the reading hall after Oraz Zhandosov of the Service “Kazakstan kitaptary” is organized the book exhibition “Kazak sheshenderinyn kemengery”, dedicated to the centenary of the doctor of science (philology), researcher of the Kazakh folk creative activity and writer Nysanbek Turekulov.

Nysanbek Turekulov was born on August 28, 1921 in the village Dosan of the Вaidibekskiy district of the Southern-Kazakhstani region (now the Turkestanskaya region). Participant of the Great Patriotic war. Awarded with the orders of the Patriotic war of the 2-nd degree, the Red Banner and medals. Graduated from the faculty of journalistics of the Almatinskaya Higher party school (1960). Member of the Union of journalists (1959) and the Writers Union of Kazakhstan (1995). He died on November 22, 2008.

There in the fond of National library of the RK are more than 200 materials about Nysanbek Turekulov: his scientific works and articles, short stories and essays and also the recollections about him on the pages of the periodical press. The purpose of the book exhibition is the popularization and acquaintance with the life and creative activity of the scientist-researcher and writer, and also the attraction of the readers’ attention in order to learn more about this personality.

The book exhibition “Kazak sheshenderinyn kemengery” is opened by the part dedicated to the biography of N.Turekulov: the encyclopaedias, the family photographs, the prhotographs of the military years and the literature about him.

The next part of the exhibition embraces the scientific activity, the most well-known and significant works of the scientist-researcher. A considerable contribution was made in the development of the Kazakh literary studies by the works of N.Turekulov dedicated to the creative activity of the judges-biys of the Kazakh people and the studying of the folklore of the Kazakh people, the creative activity of one of its bright representatives Zhambyl Zhabayev. The value of these editions such as “Zhambyl men Kenen”, “Zhyuz zhasagan baiterek”, “Zhambyl”, “Alatau askarynan zhyr asyrgan”, “Kazaktyn 100 bi-shesheny”, “Biyler sozi – akyldyn kyozi”, “Dalanyn dara dilmarlary”, “Gumyrnamalyk bayan” is in the width of the encyclopaedic data which for the first time represent the life and activity of the outstanding orators of the Kazakh people, among which there are the names of Maiky bi, Zhirenshe sheshen,Tole bi, Kazybek bi, Aiteke bi, Edige, Monke and others. The works of N. Turekulov are filled with the desire to conceive the depth and wisdom of the Kazakh folk poetry, the beauty and grandiloquence of its images, the desire to deliver its understanding of these qualities to the readers, to make the masterpieces of the best representatives of the folk creative activity the real property of the people. The scientist participated in the publication of the 6-volume edition “The history of the Kazakh literature” under the leadership of the classics of Kazakh literature M.Auezov, M.Gabdullin, M.Karatayev. He worked upon the collection of materials and the research of the life and creative activity of around 500 people’s akyns, such as Zhambyl, Kenen, Umbetali, Esdaulet and Orynbai. He is the author of the 4-volume ancyclopaedia “The 100 Kazakh bi-orators”. In 1996 for the valuable works about Zh.Zhabayev N.Turekulov was awarded the International prize after Zhambyl.

In 1965 N. Turekulov defended the candidate dissertation by the theme “The aphorisms in Kazakh literature”, in 1984 – the doctoral dissertation – “The modern Kazakh oral-folk and individual creative activity. (The genre composition and the structural-functional peculiarities)”.

The third part of the exhibition is dedicated to the writing activity of N.Turekulov. He wrote many stories and essays about the patriotic feats of the Kazakh heroes during the Great Patriotic war – Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Agadil Sukhanbayev, Sadyk Abdizhapparov, Beisen Ontayev, Karsybai Sypatayev and about the hero-commisar Khabi Khaliullin. His works “Ot keshu” (1982), “Kyryk khikaya” (1985) are marked with clarity, exact thought and beautiful speech.
