There in the reading Hall of periodical editions is organized the exhibition of newspapers and magazines named “Zhambyl – Uly Dala akyny”, dedicated to the 175-th anniversary of the Kazakh poet, classic of the folk improvization art Zhambyl Zhabayev

Zh.Zhabayev made a great contribution into the development of the poetical art of the Kazakh people. The poet dedicated his long and fruitful life to the praising of the best human qualities – patriotism, nobleness, truthfulness to the right cause and justice. His verses which were published during the period from 1936 to 1945 exceed in volume 13 thousand stanzas.

With especial passion he praises the achievements and the changes in the life of the country, the victory and heroism of the people during the years of the Great Patriotic war.

There in the poetry of the military years of Zh.Zhabayev the main place is occupied by the theme of the defence of the Motherland and the friendship between the peoples. All the four years he indefatigably created the works about the warriors, the guardsmen, the cities of Moscow and Leningrad.

Over the whole world there flew his verse “Leningrad dwellers, my children!”, which was written in September, 1941 and translated from the Kazakh language into the Russian language by the poet M.Tarkovskiy. the verse was published in the newspaper “Leningradskaya pravda” (1941) and multiplied on the placards of that time. “Leningrad dwellers, my children!” is one of the strongest works of the poet. In 2021 this verse will be 80 years old. In his address the author calls to the dwellers of the blockaded city to hold themselves steadfastly and preserve hardness.

Zhambyl is an epic akyn, the akyn-improvisor, the wise zhyrshi and narrator.

The greatness of Zhambyl is not only in his poetic mastership but also in that he is the creator of the new trend in folk poetry, the wise inspirer of the creative spirit of the folk akyns.

There at the exhibition “Zhambyl – Uly Dala akyny” out of the fond of the National library of the RK are presented the newspapers and magazines aboput the life and creative activity of Zh.Zhabayev, his works, and also the articles and recollections of the poets, writers of Kazakhstan about him, about the family of the akyn, his successors, published upon the pages of the periodical press of Kazakhstan.
