From 28 to 30 October, specialists of the restoration, conservation and binding service of the National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the online Interdisciplinary scientific and practical conference "Book monuments in the aspect of preservation", organized by the IFLA center for preservation and conservation for the CIS and Eastern Europe of the all-Russian state library of foreign literature named after M.I. Rudomino. Head of the restoration, conservation and binding service B. Sarsenbayeva  made the  report "Experience of the IFLA regional center/PAC for the preservation and conservation of documents in Central Asia", where she spoke about the ongoing work of the Center.

Over the course of 2 days, presentations were made on various topics, ranging from "Assessing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the conservation and preservation of special collections", continuing with "Research on differences in the degree of preservation of handwritten texts "to work on" the Fiber-reflecting spectrometer used to identify pigments in manuscripts and paintings", as well as many others.

The master class "Restoration of large format documents-posters", conducted by restorers of the highest category I. S. Belyakova and E. V. Mymrina from the all-Russian art research and restoration center named after academician I. E. Grabar, was demonstrated throughout the post-Soviet space for 2 days and it aroused great interest among specialists.

The information received interested our young restorers in developing their personal knowledge and skills, which will also help them improve their skills.
