The review “Libraries of Kazakhstan – the year 2019. Facts and numbers” contains the comparative-statistical research of the librarianship of the RK, prepared by the Scientific-methodological service of National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The nucleus of “The review” are the tables with the digital data about the work of the libraries of five departments (three ministries and two joint-stock companies). The tables are situated in

the Appendix. In part b1 of the Appendix there are the tables with the main indices of the work of the libraries of the Ministry of education and science of the RK (the MES of the RK),

the Ministry of health care of the RK (the M of HC) of the RK, the libraries of the non-commercial joint-stock society named “The republican scientific-technical library” (the JSC

“the RSTL”) and the joint-stock company “The republican scientific-technical library” (the joint-stock society “RNTB”) and the joint-stock society “National company “Kazakstan temir zholy” (the JSS “The NC “KTZh”).

The tables with the main indices are compiled on the basis of the informational-statistical informations, provided at the beginning of each current year by the request of National library of the RK by the methodological centres of the above-mentioned departments. The informational-statistical information with the main indices of the work of the libraries of the state establishments of education are given by the Republican scientific-pedagogical library.

The informational-statistical information about the work of the Central scientific library of

the Pay state enterprise with the right of economic activity “Gylym ordasy” is given by

the methodological service of the given library. The informational-statistical information with the main indices of work of the libraries of the Ministry of health care of the RK is provided by the Republican scientific medical library. The informational-statistical information for

the libraries of the joint-stock society “The republican scientific-technical library” is provided by the joint-stock society “The republican scientific-technical library”. The informational-statistical information for the libraries of the joint-stock society “National company “Kazakstan temir zholy“ is provided by the Scientific-technical library of the Technical centre of the joint-stock society “National company “Kazakstan temir zholy”.

The tables with the main indices of work of the generally accessible libraries are grouped in part 2 of the Appendix. The tables with the digital data about the work of the generally accessible libraries are compiled on the basis of the electronic base “The libraries of Kazakhstan: facts and figures” (http://stat.nlrk.kz). The digital data are introduced into the electronic base during the period of the annual account period by the methodological centres of the generally accessible libraries.            

There in “The review” are placed the linear, sector, column diagrams which illustrate the content of the tables. The diagrams are situated in the respective logical sequence, they are equipped with the reference apparatus and commentaries.

“The review” systematizes the absolute, average and relative sizes of the indices of the library work. The possession of the statistical data makes it possible to highlight many issues of the state and development of librarianship, including different aspects of the most important problem of embracing by the library servicing of the population of Kazakhstan.  

“The review” can be used in the research work and pedagogical process. It is addressed to the library workers, teachers, the students of the higher educational establishments and pupils of colleges by the speciality “Librarianship”, to the workers of the statistical establishments, to all those who are interested in the librarianship business of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
